I’ll be honest. I never really thought about the dirt in my carpet before acquiring this awesome job with Aaron’s Quality Cleaners. I vacuum at least once a week and have always felt that it was “good enough”. Can you sense the big “BUT” coming?
BUT….now that I’ve been researching into the things that lurk beneath my carpet I am really disgusted. The average home carpet hides 200,000 bacteria within just one square inch of it’s fibers. That means there are more bacteria in one square inch of carpet than on a toilet seat!
People shed 1.5 million skin cells in just one hour. Where do those skin cells go? You guessed it, right into your beautiful, cozy carpet. Those cells, along with pollen, food particles and pet dander then become food for germs and dust mites. Dust mites are tiny spider-like creatures thought to be the leading cause of allergies for 20 million Americans.
Add to that what your shoes bring in each day: Viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc. No wonder people struggle so much with asthma. And even if you vacuum everyday, vacuums just can’t reach the very bottom of your carpet. So how does one kill these dust mites and various other pathogens? Very hot water; at least 212 degrees. But don’t leave that water to puddle down in your carpet pad for too long, because guess what else dust mites like? Yup…moisture.
I love my carpet and the comfort it adds to my home. So what’s a girl to do? Why, get her carpets cleaned of course. So I did! One of the great perks of working for Aaron’s is that I get a free carpet cleaning once a year. Very cool! I scheduled right away. No luke-warm water and weak wand for these guys! They came out with their 240 degree water and powerful Rotary Extractor and not only killed my dust mites, but took their remains with them when they left.
I feel reassured by the quality of the clean my carpets just received. My skin has stopped crawling and I vow to not only stop researching bugs, but to get my carpets cleaned by the best carpet cleaner in Fresno on a more regular basis.
