Contrast Picture

July 17, 2014

Look What We Can DoI don’t know about you, but I love contrast pictures, before and after pictures, then and now pictures. We have quite a few of them listed here on our website and they’re a lot of fun to look at. There is something so satisfying about getting what looks like a hopelessly dirty carpet to become a fresh and clean carpet once again.  We love it, the property managers that use us love it, and of course our regular customers love it too!

Aaron has been a carpet cleaner in Fresno for about seven years now. In the beginning, he carefully researched the carpet cleaning business to discover which equipment, techniques, and products were the most successful. Then he did his best to implement the wisdom he’d gained in order to develop a respectable, high-quality carpet cleaning company in Fresno. Why begin a business without the goal of being the best in mind?!

Owning your own business can be very difficult and Aaron’s Quality Cleaners has seen their share of tight times. Cleaning carpet in Fresno got pretty tough when the housing market took a dramatic drop a few years back. Many cleaners went out of business and Aaron’s had to really tighten their belts to make it through. Like most times of hardship, the trials taught us to be thankful for what we had. It also taught us how to operate leaner while still maintaining satisfied customers.

Today Aaron’s Quality Cleaners is one of the most highly regarded carpet cleaners in Fresno. Between Aaron’s research, experience, technician training, and high quality products, a company has emerged that is everything Aaron had hoped it would be.

People choose Aaron as their Fresno carpet cleaner over and over. Just check out our reviews on Google, Yelp, and Angie’s List to see what people are saying. Then give us a call and see if we can’t make your carpet smile again too!

Amazing Aggregate Cleaning

Yes! These are real pictures of a real home where Aaron’s Quality Cleaners has really cleaned! Even knowing how great our cleaning process is, I still find myself amazed when our carpet cleaning technicians send in contrast pictures like these.

One of the reasons aggregate flooring gets so dirty is that it is rarely sealed properly, or re-sealed often enough. What most people with aggregate find, is that this type of flooring is extremely porous. That means the water goes down into those pebbles and just keeps on going down and being absorbed into the great unknown area between the pebbles. And what happens when water sits too long? Mildew, and the completely awful odor that comes with it.

If you know that cleaning your aggregate floor today may cause it to smell for days to come, I bet you would have second thoughts about cleaning it at all. If you’ve spilled something, milk being the worst, on the pebbles, then you know that no matter how quick and thorough you are, it was too late as soon as the liquid hit the floor. There’s just no way to clean between and under those rocks well enough unless you have professional equipment and products.

So why does anyone install this floor to begin with? Well, in an ideal world, the aggregate is sealed perfectly with the right thickness of epoxy and in the right manner. Then, ideally again, it is re-sealed perfectly every five years. This process means that water and moisture cannot get through to the pebbles, but will sit on top as though it were a laminate floor, until you can clean it up.

Unfortunately, in our experience, the reality rarely matches the theory. We find most aggregate floors to be excessively porous and require specialized care to maintain. When we come in to clean this type of flooring, we are always sure to heat our water to 240 degrees in order to first kill whatever may be lurking amidst the pebbles, and second to help break down the grime and dirt that have accumulated on the floor.

After allowing a cleaning agent to sit atop the floor for a few minutes, we next scour the floor in much the same way that you would power scrub the walkway in front of your home.  When the floor is clean, we rinse it, again with the 240 degree water. When finished, we spray a specially made product over the entire area to keep mildew from growing while the floor has a chance to dry.

It’s a great process and it works really well. So if you find your reality not quite living up to your dreams, give us a call and let us come make your world right again!

Summer BBQ Stains

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014

July 1, 2014

BBQ StainsI love summer! Summer means vacation, swimming, sleeping in, and outside cooking. Grilling is my absolutely favorite way to make dinner. Chicken, salmon, veggies, and every now again … BBQ ribs! Yummy.

Usually this keeps both the heat and the mess outside. But every now and then, those sticky ribs somehow end up making a mess on the carpet. Here is a great way to clean both BBQ sauce and ketchup out of your carpet.

I have two disclaimers to get off my chest before we begin. One, these solutions are only for synthetic carpets, like nylon. Do not use these recipes for wool, jute, or other natural fiber carpets … call your carpet cleaner instead. Second, never mix ammonia with bleach when creating homemade cleaning solutions and it can cause an extremely harmful gas.

The first rule to all stain removal is to get to it ASAP! The longer you let it sit, the lower your chances are of success. If its already too late, don’t worry … it might not really be too late. Try re-wetting the stained area with a bit of water below following the steps below.

The Detergent Method:

Mix together :

–         2 tablespoons clear dishwashing liquid (I like Ivory)

–         2 cups lukewarm water

Scrape as much of the sauce off the carpet as you can with a plastic spoon. Sponge some of the detergent solution onto the stain, but don’t use too much. Leaving detergent in the carpet will cause it to attract dirt and re-soil again in the future.

Blot the solution up with a dry, white, terrycloth until the liquid is absorbed. Repeat this process until the stain is gone.

If the stain remains, then go through the same process again, but this time with the ammonia solution below.

The Ammonia Method:

Mix together:

–         1 tablespoon ammonia

–         ½ cup warm water

And as always, if all else fails, give us a call! Aaron’s Quality Cleaners specialized in making carpets smile!

Vehicle Cleaning

May 30, 2014

After the fun call number one

School is almost out! That’s good news for many children out there. Maybe not such great news for some of the parents. Lol! Either way you look at it, your house and the vehicle you drive will probably be put to the test. More sticky hands, grimy shoes, and muddy clothes to give our surroundings that “well used” look.

Many people don’t think of their local carpet cleaner as also being their local vehicle cleaner. Aaron’s Quality Cleaners does a fantastic job on automobile upholstery and floors. If you’re getting ready for a long road trip with the kiddies, then you may want to start with a clean slate. Especially if you’re heading to a family reunion or event that may entail other people riding along in your vehicle.

On the other hand, you may want to wait until after that camping trip or day at the beach to have your ride cleaned. There’s just nothing quite like the hopelessness a mom feels after returning from a very fun, very dirty vacation away. Between laundry and putting things back where they belong, sometimes there just isn’t enough energy left to tackle the van or SUV.

Either way you look at it, Aaron’s Quality Cleaners can make your vehicle’s interior look great again! First we vacuum out all those Cheerios, French fries, and bucket loads of sand. Then we spray the floor mats and seats with the best product for each. Next we bring in our awesome upholstery tool and give those floor mats and upholstery a vigorous, yet safe, scrub. We’ll even work at that coffee stain from a couple months back. Finally, we’ll rinse it through with hot water and extract everything back out into our holding tank. No detergents left behind to cause your interior to re-soil more quickly.

Just a deep, professional, healthy clean that restores the interior of your vehicle to its former glory with you having to lift a finger! Give us a call to hear our rates and experience our fantastic clean for yourselves!

The Soiled Sofa

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014

May 21, 2014

Upholstery Contrast for blogEvery home should have a comfy couch conveniently located at a perfect distance from the television. AND in a perfect location for reading by the window, YET a perfect set up to avoid any glare on the TV screen. That can be a lot to ask for in a sofa! But I bet we can all agree that a good sofa is a great thing. My hubby and I enjoy sitting together to watch a movie. My children enjoy reading and playing video games from its cushy expanse. Even the dog prefers the family couch for napping.

All this lovely family use can really leave a sofa looking dirty. Grimy hands, spilled drinks, the occasional overflow of popcorn; a well-used sofa really doesn’t stand a chance against these adversaries. It must resign itself to taking in stains, soaking up spills, and absorbing crumbs. But who wants to be stuck with a dirty looking sofa, no matter how comfortable it is?

Upholstery can actually be very difficult to clean. The fabrics used to make our sofas look beautiful must be treated gently and carefully. This means that the fabulous stain removal products we use to make carpets look respectable cannot be used in the same way on upholstery. Until chemists come up with something else, we are sometimes just stuck with the stains we have.

All hope is not lost, however. Aaron’s Quality Cleaners has an excellent track record when it comes to making tired sofas look clean again. The above picture is an honest and true picture taken of a cleaning we did of one such specimen. As you can see, the difference is miraculous.

We always love it when new cleaning equipment comes on the market. Our latest upholstery tool has substantially changed our cleaning method. Whereas we used to shoot water straight down into the cushions of a sofa as we cleaned, now we can lift the fabric away from the cushion, shoot the water in one side, and then pull it right back out through the other. Not only does this ensure a better clean, but it ensures a much faster dry time!

So live with abandon on that comfy couch and then give us a call when you are ready for a deep, healthy clean! We love to make sofas smile again!

Spring Cleaning

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

May 14, 2014

It’s that time of year again. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the flowers are blooming. It’s finally spring! The long, cold winter is over and there are beautiful days ahead to enjoy the great outdoors.

SpringHere in Fresno and Clovis we have a very limited number of days that are perfect. Spring is our season of lovely weather. We locals are only too aware that by late June and early July the days will reach up past the hundreds and we won’t feel like doing anything that might cause us to sweat (even more than we already sweat just sitting down).

So spring cleaning in the Central Valley truly has to happen in, well, spring.  And there’s nothing quite like the sun shining into our homes to show us all the grimy areas we’ve missed in our halfhearted cleanings throughout the winter. Windows and screens need to be washed, closets cleaned out, bathrooms scrubbed, and dust bunnies removed. And although I hate having to clean, I always find that I feel so much better once it’s done. Even the process isn’t actually so bad with my favorite playlist booming.

The one area that often gets overlooked, and yet needs to be cleaned the most, is our flooring. Just like the window sills, our carpets have been collecting dust throughout the winter months. That dust has then been ground into the fibers as people walk on it. Add moisture from the rain to the mix and you have dirty, grimy carpet in need of a very deep clean. Let’s face it, there is only so much ability in our vacuum cleaners and rented steam machines. Sometimes you just have to call in the big guns!

That, of course, is where Aaron’s Quality Cleaners can help. We have the equipment, cleaning products, and experience needed to remove that buildup of dirt collected in your carpet. Essentially, the only way to reach down to the base of the carpet and extract ALL the ground in soil, is to use professional equipment. Rented machines, and even some carpet cleaning companies (who shall not be named), do not have the power source needed for the deepest, healthiest clean.

Carpet cleaning equipment must be powered by a truck mounted system if it is to be highly effective at cleaning carpets. Cleaners should also be using upgraded equipment, like a rotary extractor, to scrub carpets instead of a wand. Whereas a rotary extractor scrubs every inch of carpet 650 times a minute, a carpet cleaning wand can only reach as deep, and scrub as hard, as a technician can push it.

Aaron’s Quality Cleaners is a small, personal company with an amazing work ethic, fantastic attention to detail, and award winning customer service (we’ve won the Angie’s List Super Service Award for two years in a row now!). After seven years in the business, Aaron has perfected his cleaning process to ensure a quality clean every time.

So, don’t let all that spring cleaning overwhelm you. Give us a call and see what a difference we can make in your carpet today! If you’re looking to get it done all at once, we also do an amazing job on tile/aggregate and upholstery!

Carpet Cleaning Methods

Tuesday, April 8th, 2014

Van for BlogAt Aaron’s Quality cleaners we are often asked about the various methods used to clean carpets. Let me tell you, there are a number of different carpet cleaning processes out there to choose from. Here are the main categories:

  • Hot-Water Extraction
  • Dry Foam
  • Topical Chemical Application
  • Absorbent Pad

Once you decide on the best professional carpet cleaning process, then it is time to look at the types of tools, equipment, and power sources each company uses:

  • Truck Mounted (with rotary extractor or wand)
  • Portable Unit
  • Bonnet Pad
  • Dry Foam Machine

After all this, there is still the matter of what types of products each cleaner uses. The variations between all these factors is absolutely mind-boggling.

I asked Aaron how he decided on his particular method of carpet cleaning. He answered, “It’s the best method for carpet cleaning available!” Those are pretty big words and I wondered if he was capable of backing them up. After working many years to build a quality business, Aaron gushed about all the benefits of using the hot-water extraction method combined with a rotary extraction machine and truck mounted power source.

I won’t bore you with all the details, but I did scope it out online and discovered that he was right; At least according to carpet manufacturers. Many of these top companies will only consider their carpet warranties valid if the owners have used the hot-water extraction method to care for their carpets. When a large company puts its money where its mouth is, that speaks volumes!

Combine that with Aaron’s seven years of experience in the industry and you have a high quality cleaner at your service. When you use Aaron’s Quality Cleaners you can rest assured that you truly are getting the best clean there is for your carpet!

We also have the tools and experience for tile, aggregate, upholstery, and auto cleaning as well. So whatever your need is, let us come make it beautiful again!

Our AQC Team!

The A Team

We have a fabulous team of remarkable individuals that work hard to keep the QUALITY in Aaron’s Quality Cleaners. Many of these guys are students working their way through school, or family men holding down two jobs at once. But what they all have in common is an amazing work ethic, a friendly attitude, and a trustworthy nature.

When a new hire starts his first day at Aaron’s Quality Cleaners, he has an overwhelming amount of information to learn. It’s not just about the cleaning, but also about caring for the vehicles, becoming skilled at customer service, and being trained to price and invoice customers correctly.

Of course on top of all that he needs to become an expert on cleaning carpet, tile, aggregate, and upholstery. Once these main categories are mastered, then there is still the odor elimination process as well as becoming knowledgeable about removing a large variety of stains, each calling for a different product and different application.

Summertime can be a real trial-by fire for cleaning technicians. Fresno gets up in the 110’s during the hottest months, which also happen to be our busiest months. It is a long, hard, sweaty day of manual labor for these quality men. Yet they continue to give their all and keep good attitudes throughout the days, always giving their best work to each customer.

We count our blessings each day these guys come to work and make Aaron’s Quality Cleaners the best carpet cleaning company in all of Fresno and Clovis. So greet your cleaning technician with a big smile the next time you have your floors cleaned. Then welcome them in and watch as they use their hard-earned skills and knowledge to return your flooring to its former glory!

Carpet Tiles – Revisited

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

Carpet Tiles - Revisited

In September of last year, I wrote a post about the benefits of using interlocking carpet tiles. It was an enjoyable article to write as I had a chance to see the fun and creative ways people chose to decorate their homes. Well as it turns out, it may have been a little too much fun for me. I got really excited about all the pictures I saw and how easy this flooring choice was to install. Now I too am the owner of a creatively wild carpet!

Needless to say, I did not create the color pattern myself. Artsy I am not. But I like cute, crazy things that match the personality of my three girls and I found the perfect design at FLOR.com.  Now I will tell you right up front that these carpet tiles are not cheap. The cost ended up being about $750 dollars from start to finish … and that was with free shipping and 25% off. The install itself took about one full day and although I helped where I could, the actual cutting had to be done by my husband.

If you’re looking at using floor tiles for an area rug, or small space like an entry, then you could actually be done in about 30 minutes. We covered a fairly large room with a number of odd shaped angles, which explains both the price and the time involved in our personal experience. I should also add that the installation was headed by my perfectionist husband which may have added a bit extra to the time table as well.

We have used the formal dining room in our home as a play room for children since we moved in a little over 2 years ago. The room originally had beautiful white carpet, which we quickly replaced with tile before moving in. We thought we were so smart because tile would be so much easier to clean. Then one daughter went through a very artistic stage and we ended up with paint everywhere. Luckily it was washable paint, but I still had to get on my hand and knees to get it all cleaned.

Next, we used the carpet out of our neighbors’ house to protect the tile. They had the exact same room shape as ours and we considered it a great temporary solution to the continual mess on the floor. Again, it was a good idea but with one huge drawback … the playroom always looked awful. It is the very first room you see went entering our home and no matter how clean I kept it, the paint-on-carpet look just made the whole room look gross and dirty.

Well the girls are older now and not nearly as messy as they used to be. Time for another change! We got rid of the neighbors’ carpet remnant, admired our pristine tile floor beneath, and then got to work on covering it up again. This time with the new FLOR tiles. The great thing about this temporary floor is that the adhesive only sticks to the carpet tiles, not the tile floor it is resting on. So when it comes time to change things up again, we simply lift it up and once again admire our pristine tile floor, still in perfection condition, beneath.

The other great thing about these carpet tiles is that if one of them gets dirty, then you can remove it from its spot, clean it, and then replace it exactly where it was. I’m not sure how easy this process will actually turn out to be because we really put our carpet tiles together with a lot of pressure. Hopefully the theory will prove itself out in experience when the time comes.

The other thing to keep in mind is that although the manufacturer says you can steam clean these carpet tiles, I don’t plan to. I know that our equipment here at Aaron’s Quality Cleaners cannot be used on laminate flooring because the water gets so hot that it melts the glue that holds the laminate flooring down. My guess is that it would also melt the FLOR dots that are used to hold the carpet tiles together.

We are so happy with the outcome of our new floor that we are already making plans to use FLOR tiles for an area rug in the family room. Maybe something a bit more subtle though. We’ve been wanting to remove the built-in entertainment center, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of placing new tile that will continue our floor to the wall. Now we can simply put down a subfloor and then run the carpet tiles all the way from the wall to the back of the sofa. Voila!

I hope this article is helpful to anyone considering this kind of crazy flooring option! We are very happy with the result in our home.
